Frequently Asked Questions About Our Design Services
How Our Design Services Can Benefit Your Home
How does this edesign thing work?
For potential clients living outside of Monroe Country, NY, eDesign aka online virtual design begins with your filling out a fun and easy design questionnaire. This provides me the basis for beginning your design. From there, I can give you a quote on my flat fee rate, based on your project specifics. I often give a discount for larger projects. You can pay with a credit card via Paypal or via the waveapp invoice, which is similar to Paypal whereas I do not receive your private credit card information. We communicate via email and/or video chat sessions. Design concepts and finalized designs are presented and discussed via your private online portal. Upon approval of the final design, my specifications and recommendations will be provided via an interactive online shopping list, with all pertinent information. You will also receive styling instructions and tips for completing your design.

Can we talk about the budget?
Price points for furnishings and decor for your project can be customized to meet your needs, whether you are looking for a customized masterpiece or something more of the Pottery Barn style. Budgets are crucial to the smooth running of a project and to meet your expectations. I will provide a worksheet for you to determine your budget. I’ve designed rooms for under $2000 and I’ve also worked on projects with the budget beginning at $40,000+. Trust me to create an amazing design that falls within your means.
What is “To the Trade Only” Furniture and Decor?
“To the Trade” means that vendors do not sell to the public, only to design professionals, architects, builders, contractors, etc. I have a detailed article explaining what “To the Trade” means, the benefits, and as well as retail vs. to the trade benefits.
How much are your design fees?
Most projects are quoted on a flat-fee basis according to how many hours that I estimate the project to require to complete. My fee is $100/hour. You may hire me on an hourly basis at a minimum of 15 hours, or request a custom quote for a flat-fee package. Taxes and processing fees will apply.

Are there additional costs?
I make every effort to give you an accurate cost analysis, but there is always the possibility of additional charges such as storage, shipping, or installation. If you’ve purchased a flat-fee custom package, that is the total cost for design services, unless additional requests are made outside the scope of the Letter of Agreement. The following article provides very detailed explanations of hidden costs: The Hidden Costs of Interior Design
Can I change my mind after an order has been placed?
My 3D photo-realist renders of the design will eliminate buyer regret. However, in the event that you still change your mind, most often orders can be returned if they are purchased from retail online locations. If you are ordering from my shopping list instead of using my procurement services, refer to the items return policy.
Custom orders are unable to be refunded.
Should a full refund be possible, you may cancel the order and receive a refund for the item price less the purchasing fee and any other applicable fees. Local clients paying hourly will be charged for the time spent on canceled orders. Orders for custom products are nonrefundable.
Can I shop independently if I am a local client?
A vision for your space has been created by me, so I ask you to refrain from selecting or purchasing anything that would undermine the design, size, or budget for your space. Specifications for direct-purchase items will be provided unless you select my procurement services.
If you are using my procurement services, and end up making your own purchases, you will be charged for my time in sourcing.
That being said, I make every effort to ensure that my clients are happy in the end with the design. It is up to you to give honest feedback on the design to ensure this.
As an edesign client, I would like to place an order. What should I do?
For most online edesign projects, you can place an order directly from the specifications aka shopping list that I provide upon approval of the final design presentation.
If you select my complimentary order placing service for edesign, you have three days from the date you receive a proposal to accept the offer or decline it. Orders require a signed proposal or approval on Studio Projects as well as full payment. After Designer receives the signed proposal and full payment, Designer will place an order for your project item(s) to be shipped directly to you.
